Teacher
Testimonials

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, we are proud of the fact that teachers tend to stay longer (3 years typically) and get more out of their time at James than at many of the larger English Schools.

Here are some letters from teachers, both past and present, to give you an idea of what makes teaching at James such a positive experience.

James English School has high standards, but also gives you the freedom to teach the way you’d like to. You frequently have enough time throughout the week to reflect, plan and prepare for your lessons.

When I decided that I wanted to be an English teacher in Japan, I first looked at all the big companies but they weren’t offering what I was looking for. James English School was the first company to really give what I wanted – a teaching position. Naturally, I was very nervous when I started, but all the staff and teachers at *James* have been incredibly supportive, helping me become a fuller, more well-rounded individual. These 3 years in beautiful northern Japan have surely been well spent.

I’ve lived in Japan for 7 years and have worked for a number of different companies. If teaching English in Japan is what you want to do, then I would highly recommend *James English School* be the company you choose.

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching in 3 different branches of James English School, but now I am teaching at one particular branch. Although I’ve just recently joined the team as a full-time teacher, I’ve found my experience with the staff, teachers and students truly enriching and rewarding already. I’m looking forward to establishing strong professional relationships and meaningful friendships along the way.

In the years I have worked for James, I have had the opportunity to work at the Yonezawa, Niigata, and Yamagata schools. In that time, I have been privileged to meet and work with a wide range of people in many different settings. This has been a great opportunity. The relatively relaxed and low-pressure life in northern Japan gives ample chance to explore Japanese culture and engage in outside pursuits.
