About Us

Our owner and president Mr. Yoshi Kigawa established James English School in 1976. Since then, we have grown into a successful chain of English schools operating throughout Northern Japan.

Our schools offer in-house classes for students of all ages from very young children to retired men and women. Our teachers also travel to many companies to teach business executives the English skills required for a global economy. We are a leader in Corporate English Training in the Northern Honshu area.

Most of our schools employ 3-8 teachers. We offer a wide range of courses for students, from custom made corporate syllabi to formal TOEIC (Test of English Competency) preparation. Our teachers are given a great deal of professional autonomy to create their own lessons, as well as solid support, benefits and guidance (especially in the first few months).

James English School is large enough to have a significant presence in Northern Japan while at the same time, is small enough to be able to treat our teachers as individuals. Our teachers remain with us an average of 3-5 years, which speaks for itself. (See Testimonials)
